The Daughters of the American Revolution at their 48th Continental Congress unanimously opposed relaxing U.S. immigration laws to admit refugees from totalitarian nations. They urged maintaining legal admission standards while providing relief within the law and supported registering and fingerprinting aliens. 75 Years Since In God We Trust Coin Inscription
Seventy five years ago last Saturday April 22 the inscription In God We Trust was first authorized for U S coins. The 1864 act allowed the two cent piece to bear the motto with the director fixing its size and device. Rev M R Watkinson of Ridleyville Pennsylvania proposed recognizing the Almighty on currency in 1861.

Merle Carver to Manage Camp Tecumseh Season
Merle Carver, in charge of boys activities for the Indiana YMCA, will again manage Camp Tecumseh for the coming season opening June 10. The Jackson Township Home Economics Club met April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Mrs. Mildred Allen’s home with forty members, guests, and children present. Members answered roll call on why children should join an 4-H club and a round table on Flowers and Vegetable Gardens followed. Verna Coplen led a seed and bulb auction and the next regular meeting is at Mrs. Verna Coplen’s home on May 12 with a call meeting for a project lesson at Katie Lake’s home. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess and assistants.

Sister Of Local Lady Died Friday
Mrs. Alma Noble aged 63 widow of William A. Noble died at St Joseph hospital after a brief illness following April 19 surgery. Survivors include daughter Ednar, two sisters Susie Dickerson Logansport and Villa Harrison Camden, brother John Leslie Lafayette, and nieces nephews. Funeral rites conducted at McCloskey chapel with Rev D K Finch officiating. burial in Camden.
