Trio Held In Clover Seed Theft Near Trappe
Noah Camper Percy Green and Walter Rozier were arrested by Sheriff James R. Thomas and Deputy Alton R. Andrews for stealing over 300 pounds of red and Korean clover seed from E. J. Kirby at Kirby's Wharf farm near Trappe. Camper, using the alias Elwood Stanley from Golden Hill, tried to cash a $22.48 check, drawing suspicion and leading to their custody and transfer to Talbot County Sheriff. Stanley was questioned by State's Attorney Calvin Harrington Jr. before confirming Camper’s identity.

Rev. W. W. Webster Dies in Baltimore
The Rev. William Worthington Webster, longtime rector at St. Paul’s Trappe and former presbyter of the Easton diocese, died Sunday in Baltimore at the Church Home and Infirmary after months of illness. Born 1874 in Dayton Ohio he earlier worked in journalism and wrote religious pieces for local columns. Funeral services were held in Dayton on Wednesday.

Record Season In Store For Boating Fans

Auto License Rush Predicted As 1939 Tags Sell Fast
Officials at the Office of the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles forecast another last minute rush for 1939 license plates. By last Tuesday 44 687 licenses had been sold, 3 421 more than a year ago, bringing in 361 744 13 dollars, 24 189 75 more than 1938. If issued at last year’s total of 410 668, 365 981 more plates would be required before the April 1 deadline. Tags usable from March 15. License receipts have risen 26 percent over four years, last year totaling 4 658 016 dollars.

Shore Live Stock Laboratory Is Completed
A new county building near Centreville serves the six Eastern Shore counties for a regional live stock laboratory. Kenneth W. Baker says operation readiness is uncertain with inauguration likely next week. The lab will diagnose and treat hogs cattle and poultry disease for Kent Caroline Talbot Queen Annes and parts of Cecil and Dorchester counties. About $5,000 will be spent to equip the lab for the first year, with light and water supplied by Queen Annes County Commissioners.
