Farm product demand remains high into 1916 crops
The USDA reports farm product demand and prices will stay near record levels through the next few months as Europe and Asia await 1916 crops. Domestic demand was constrained by rationing in 1945 but remains strong, fueled by higher nonfarm income and rapid reconversion to peacetime conditions. Export volumes are expected to stay elevated, about three times 1935–39 levels, with only a small drop in total farm receipts anticipated from December to February.
