Waler C. Berger of the War Food Administration urged poultry raisers to reduce laying flocks by 25 percent by January 1 to align production with feed supplies. At the Northeast Poultry Producers Council meeting he cited rising feed use since 1942 and called for 463.5 million birds on hand by 1945, down from 515 million last January. The council also pressed to reinstate a 4 cent a pound price differential for fresh Grade A turkeys and elected Harry H. Rieck as president for 1944-45.
