Busy Middlesex County race with many contenders for office
The Cambridge contest centers on the Senate between Cleary and Gibson with Bill Lynch and George Murray also in the race. In the 1st District Coady and Dillon seek reelection as Neville mounts a strong challenge. The 2nd District sees Shea returning to the State House with Sullivan, though Charlie appears hesitant. Republican Hillis and Swenson face no opposition, possibly creating two Republicans in a traditionally mixed delegation. The 3rd District awaits Cleary’s seat vacancy with Mahoney and Foley likely nominees and a tight fight for third among Tierney O Neil Glaser Kelley and others. Returns expected late Tuesday as Cambridge votes on a record list.
