Welcome Return of Jessie Brooks at School Committee Meeting

The Monday session welcomed back Mrs. Jessie W. Brooks after months of illness and she received a warm greeting. The meeting took place in the School Department rooms for the first time, with many items discussed and continued to page.

City Council creates deputy chief police position

The council approves a new deputy chief post under the police chief. Other actions include reappointment of Planning Board members, rabies vaccination orders, and committees to discuss Dana estate restrictions for a new Central Square Library site. Sergeant discipline and street sign orders are noted.

Manhattan Food Fair Kicks Off Monday In Central Square

The spring event begins next Monday at Manhattan Market with forty demonstrations and the usual Manhattan features. One hundred food baskets are awarded and a cooking school runs 2 to 4 daily Monday through Friday. Prizes include a Glenwood gas range G E washing machine G E refrigerator tires five sets of silverware a G E radio and many smaller gifts.
