Columbias Open Season With Slim Defeats At Jamaica Plain and Somerville
The Columbia baseball nine, once the pride of local followers, opened the season with two losses. They fell to Willow A. C. of Somerville 10 to 5 on Rindge Field after a five-run first inning by the visitors, then lost at Jamaica Plain in a close contest aided by strong fielding by Schuler and pitching by Cleveland. Charley Maloney pitched and Keane and Flaherty fueled a late rally, but the comeback fell short.
