The Cambridge City Council met at 8 30 P M Tuesday with no city treasurer named. The mayor vetoed an order on contractor rules and rejected a plan to divert council salaries to the unemployed fund citing lack of appropriation. A heated exchange followed over a traffic artery project and Metropolitan District assessments with calls to petition the Legislature. The session included juror drawings and committee work, ending with a vote of thanks to the Industrial Association.

A Sunday night tribute at Sanders Theatre honored Capt James E Murray of the Cambridge Police Department who retired after sixty years of service. Mayor Russell and other dignitaries praised his career as Joseph W Motherwell of the Cambridge Industrial Association highlighted public service.
A midnight show at the Harvard Theatre honored ex-Alderman Michael M. O Connor. The organizing officers included James T. Barrett as chairman Joseph M. Stokes treasurer and A Frank Montgomery secretary. The executive committee featured Ex Mayor Edward W. Quinn Councillor Jeremiah J. O Connor Chief John J. McBride City Solicitor Thomas F. Sullivan and others.
