Central Square Riot Ends With Tear Gas On Crowd

Police dispersed a milling crowd in Central Square early Thursday morning after arrests at a dance at the Elks Building. A fight allegedly over attention to a woman sparked the trouble. Soldiers and sailors were involved and tear gas bombs were used. Sergt. Dan Brennan led a 3 AM detail as officers increased patrols.
