Mr Wood of the school committee critiques the Hurley Russell alliance in a pungent letter to the superintendent of schools. He demands public explanation of creating two new positions for two candidates, under an order to prepare a tercentenary program. The note questions the pairing as the oddest political twist.
Ray FiteGerald of the school committee told members that teachers perform only 178 of 265 official duty days this year. Councillor Cazmay sought a ward resurfacing order while Councillor Wyeth, absent ill, had council rules suspended to push the measure forward.
The regular meeting last Monday saw charges and counter charges as members argued over liability for traffic duty accidents, belts for crossing guards, and salary increases for teachers. The session featured delayed presiding, mayoral entry, and referrals to the city auditor and Kiwanis for belt donations.
