Washington Township's Civil War Veteran Griffith Cooney dies
Griffith Cooney aged 93, Washington township's last Civil War veteran, died after months of illness at his Milton home. Born in Dublin, he served with the Fifth Indiana Cavalry, later farmed in Wayne and Henry counties and retired recently. Survivors include widow Mary Ann and several children. funeral at Nazarene church in Cambridge City with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
