Cambridge City prepares for a three day centennial celebration with a gala to honor its founding. Officials plan varied programs, inviting prodigals and old friends to renew ties and revisit past sites in a festive Home Coming style.
The event lists baseball games at Creitz Park and Lincoln High School Athletic Field with multiple start times. Auto stunts appear on North Foote Street, a D A R marker dedication is noted on West Main Street, and a centennial queen is crowned near Tribune Office. Bands perform in Creitz Park and a Mardi Gras dance features Bob Armstrong's Orchestra on North Foote Street.
Cambridge City's centennial celebration features a three day slate of parades pageants and dances. events include a parade with varied floats a pageant at Lincoln high school ball games auto stunts and a mardi gras mask event with prizes for historical characters and children. organizers invite community bids for group scenes and note judges Rev Guyatt and A H Hines will attend.
The most popular baby honor will be decided after the final drawing on Monday September 14. Sponsored by W A C No 151 for the Centennial program, the entry list shows Louanna Ammon 36 votes, Marilyn Craig 38, David Lee Dearing 30, Helen Stone 22, Tommie Butler 8, Vada Irene Dickerson 5, Eddie Longnecker 5, Gary Dean Dearing 3.
Reminiscences recall Nathan Modlin bearing Old Glory in parades and Quint Cannon's platform hoedowns. Alec Dashler with his plug hat and Jenk's shooting gallery with lamp chimneys as targets. The 1868 Cambridge City I. X. L. baseball nine defeated at Oxford, Ohio by University nine, 92 to 9.

A January 1934 Tribune reprint recalls Cambridge City's early railroad era centered on the Old No. 392 Ola Huldah yard crew. It lists engineers, firemen, foremen, agents, inspectors, and trackworkers with brief notes on their roles and personalities in the roundhouse and yard.
The passage follows Bill Hull Amos Smith and others as they ready to start a night job on Diffenderfer’s engine and the Three Ninety-Two. The group remains concentrated on the front end cleaning cinders and ash pans while others scatter.

A pioneer wagon and oxen team led by Lincoln High School will depart Fosete and Main at 10 30 a m for Boundary street where a program includes band, colors, pledges, invocations, and remarks by D A R leaders.
Cambridge Chapter No. 510 Order of the Eastern Star will sponsor a rest room in the Hurst building during Centennial for members and their families.
Mrs Amelia Rattery and her son and daughter from Chicago have reservations at local hotels for Centennial week. Suzanne Harding of Los Angeles also listed among visiting party.
Mrs. Luella Cook of Hicksville Ohio sister of Rev M L Scheidler expresses wish to mingle with old home friends during Centennial week and visit relatives.
Fred Otte parade committee chairman says there is no entry fee for floats in the parade. The statement corrects an earlier erroneous report and urges groups to prepare their entries promptly.

Omer McWilliams born 1863 recalls pioneer days in Cambridge City from canal work to Barefoot poultry house. He notes two early colored graduates Estella Cannon Carter and Don Jones, camp meetings in Ferris woods, and his moves from Chicago to Indianapolis trade. He visits son Wayman in Richmond.
In 1869 the first colored school met in the colored church beside Central school, charging 40 cents monthly per child. The writer recalls Miss Nana Seehan and later teachers including Mrs Teaster and Miss M Harvey, with three students still living: John Ferguson, William Morris, and the author.
Mrs Fred Hayes of Straughn writes a Cambridge City Centennial parody sung to Is It True What They Say About Dixie. The piece imagines a hundred years of Cambridge memories with music pageants floats and joy for all.

Tyrell Lynam, injured two weeks ago while employed at Hoosier Cabinet Co. in New Castle, is expected to be brought home today. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Garland Lynam, managers of Kroger's meat department, who recently moved into the Rupert Woodward home on West Main Street.
Mrs A Pusinelli hosted a weekend gathering with her daughter Katherine. Attending were her niece Mrs J F Maher and Mr Maher with daughter Mary Virginia of Chicago, Mrs Margaret Mangavin of Columbus Ohio, and Miss Agnes and Miss Elizabeth Pusinelli from Indianapolis.
Mr and Mrs George Rihm and family spent the weekend in Piqua Ohio visiting Mr and Mrs George Decker and his parents Mr and Mrs Rihm.
Huber Cox of Muskegon Michigan spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs William Sowers The Coxes returned home with him after ten days at the Sowers home
Mrs Barrett Ball and her daughter Miss Virginia Puckett of Indianapolis spent the first of the week with her parents Mr and Mrs John Hazelrigg.
Mr and Mrs Herbert Fisher of Chicago returned home Wednesday after spending the weekend with her mother Mrs Florence Shirkey in town.
