The oldest brother and sister in law of Elwood residents Mr. and Mrs. Ephriam Rummel died after being overcome by gas during the night Friday. Their funeral and burial followed.
Miss Mallce Dawn Chiarenza entertained the Girl Scouts with a theatre party Monday evening and a business meeting followed at her home. Refreshments were served at the close of the event.
Mrs W F Johnson spends the week in Huntington for commencement exercises where her sister graduates this year. Mr Johnson will join Friday evening to spend the weekend in Huntington.
Mr and Mrs Roy Copeland Mrs Lottie Copeland and Miss Jeannette Boyd attended a family dinner Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs L O Brookshire northwest of New Castle when L H Boyd of Gary was a weekend guest.
Miss Charlotte Newman entertained a 500 party Tuesday evening with guests including Miss Jennie McGrew, Mrs. Harry Stannah, Mrs. Clarence Whelan, Mrs. Clifford Howard, Mrs. Harry Bachmann, Mrs. W. R. Littell, and Mrs. Paul Drischel.
The Fellowship club plans a social gathering at the home of Mrs. Ross Hutchinson on Tuesday evening next week. It will be the last meeting of the club year with a post dinner social and entertainment by the committee chaired by Mrs. Paul Drischel.
Mrs Flora Hoover suffered a broken bone above the knee after a fall on Third street at the Fansher property. She had just returned from Bradford Ohio with two birds and was helped to Reid hospital for treatment and comfort.

Bloomfield resident Elmer W. Sherwood set to deliver Memorial Day address Saturday. Former Indiana state senator and pioneer American Legionnaire, Sherwood organized the Linton post, served as district service officer and commander, and authored Diary of a Rainbow Veteran. He served in the Rainbow Division in five major WWI battles and led child welfare adoption programs for veterans’ orphans.

The service at Riverside cemetery includes a Benediction by Elmer Sherwood and Rev Wilbur Allen. The W R C memorial program features music, taps and reveille. People are urged to bring flowers for wreaths and bouquets, with scouts earning credits for contributions.
Memorial services will be held at Wilson school building in Milton at 2 o'clock Sunday. Rev. Powers of Centerville will speak and the school orchestra will perform. Graves of fallen soldiers will be decorated at 3 o'clock. Flower committee members request donations of flowers by 10 Sunday morning due to scarcity.
Milton Indiana May 27 Benjamin Toms died suddenly Saturday evening in Dublin while decorating graves at the cemetery. He was 75 and a birthright Dublin Friends church member. Funeral was held Tuesday at his home and burial in Dublin cemetery beside kin. He leaves a daughter Mrs John Posey Jones and Beatrice Beth, a son in law, a sister Mrs McQuirey of New Castle, sister in law Mrs Elsie Wood, and many nieces and nephews.
Edward Rollins, 70, ended his life last Thursday. Funeral services were held Saturday at Krone & Son with Rev. McCormick officiating. Burial followed in Riverside cemetery. Surviving are two half brothers John and Charles Klingman of Richmond, three half sisters Mrs Ranch and Mrs Walterman of Richmond and Mrs Catherine Michaels of California.
