American Legion Memorial Services Planned Next Sunday

The Lawrence H. Bertsch post of the American Legion and its Auxiliary will observe Memorial Day Sunday afternoon at Riverside cemetery with Rev. Fred Hill of Greenfield as speaker. The Lincoln high school band will lead a 2:00 pm procession from Lincoln High School to the cemetery for a short program joined by other local patriotic groups. Boy Scouts will place flags on graves Sunday morning, meeting at the Legion rooms at 10:30. Legions urge all members to attend both events.

Milton 4-H Club Holds Spring Meeting and Alumni Banquet

The Milton 4-H club met May 13 at Wilson school with Alma Alley as adult leader. New officers include Frances Doll president and Mary Edna Lunsford vice president, Jessie Hylton secretary treasurer, Rena Eads song leader, Lois Caldwell reporter. Alumni banquet at Milton High drew about 75, with Melvin Rodenberg president and Alma Alley secretary treasurer. home economics club served, flowers and blue decor noted.

Poppy Day Observed in Cambridge City with Pledge to Help Vets

Saturday is Poppy Day in Cambridge City as veterans and patriotic citizens are urged to wear memorial poppies for World War dead and contribute to aid disabled veterans and families. Commander Stanley Scheidler of the American Legion urged support, with Auxiliary volunteers distributing the flowers and collecting funds for veterans’ welfare.

Meeting Tonight to Plan City Centennial Celebration

Cambridge City prepares for its centennial with a mass meeting at the American Legion hall tonight. The 7:30 gathering aims to finalize plans for the September 22 to 24 celebration, urged for all committees and the Board of Control to attend. Bruce L. Peters will chair the session.

Miss Janet Ogborn of Mansfield Ohio, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Ogborn, served as maid of honor at Bowling Green University May Day celebrations on May 19. Linda Dill of Dayton was crowned May queen. Ogborn, active in the Intermediate Teachers club, was class vice president last year and will graduate in June with an elementary degree.

Family moves to Vanderbeck house in East Cambridge

Orville Boyd and family moved from the Oscar Cooley property on Walnut street to the Vanderbeck house in East Cambridge last week. Mr Cooley and Mrs Cooley plan to return from Kankakee Illinois to their home here as Mr Cooley slowly recovers from a stroke suffered several weeks ago.
