The Wayne County annual high school track and field meet is delayed for spring. Student interest shifts toward baseball while track and field see reduced participation. Local towns Cambridge City and Merton plan to send athletes to the sectional meet on May 11.
At the meeting Friday the Warne County Boy Scout Council executive board named four commissioners to oversee operations. The appointees are Gleason Vesnells, J. Clay ton Sunt, and two others, each chosen for their leadership roles.

The Rev. John H. Doddridge, native of Union County and longtime Methodist minister, died last Friday at his Vincennes home at age 61. Funeral services were held Sunday. Survivors include widow Elizabeth and four children. he served in many Indiana charges and retired in 1924.
Mrs. Kathleen Ressler arrived home Saturday after completing her school work in Sheridan and noting that the term had closed for the summer.
Walter Fink returned home from Atlanta Indiana on Saturday night to spend time with his parents Mr and Mrs J W Fink. The J J Euchre club of Rich Mona were the guests of Mrs Clar ence Whelan on Front street last Wednesday.
Mrs Neva Puckett and her daughter Virginia from Indianapolis spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs John Hazelrigg.
Mrs. Frank Marson and Mrs. Chas Ferguson joined Mrs. Rouse Griesinger for a Saturday in Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wilson and family from Dunkirk spent Sunday here with friends.
Mr and Mrs Angelo Chiarenza were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Michael Vetta in Connersville.
Mr and Mrs Wild Judkins attended Rev John Doddridge's funeral in Vincennes on Sunday. Doddridge was a brother of the late Mrs John Judkins.
Mr and Mrs Wm Shillito and Mr and Mr Henry Shillito of Dayton Ohio spent the weekend with Mrs Julia Kelsey and other relatives here arranging future visits and sharing time together with local kin.
A dinner at the home of Mr and Mrs Frank Van derbeck Sunday honored the birthdays of Mrs Vanderbeck and Mrs Chester Hall of New Lisbon. Guests included Mr and Mrs John House and families, Mr and Mrs Calvin Wimmer and family, Mr and Mrs Chester Kellum, Mr and Mrs Floyd Kellum, Auvton Rhoades, Mr and Mrs Charles Mercer of New Lisbon, Mr and Mrs Horace Huddleston and family of Milton, Mr and Mrs Percy Donaldson, Mr and Mrs Halk Vanderbeck and Richard Kellum of New Castle.

Funeral services were held at the home of Alonzo Dougherty for Mrs. Sarah Dougherty who died last Tuesday after a 98 year life. Rev. Short officiated and burial was in Westlawn cemetery.
Miss Mollie Tappen died at her nephew John Conklin’s home north of town after a long life spent entirely in Brookville. A milliner for over 50 years, she was the last of five siblings. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Brookville Methodist church with burial there.
Tag Day under the Capitol Mill Cemetery Association will be held next Saturday May Sinnet funds from tag sales go to upkeep of the cemetery and its pioneer family gravesites in Cambridge The association urges liberal patronage from residents to support the effort and continues its community efforts.
Centerville tops last month’s attendance contest with an average of 6.3 and will receive the cup in summer. Dalton and Whitewater tie for second place with 1 rate of 6.2. Other results include Abington 9.0, Webster 95.7, Hagerstown 5.5, College Hill 93.3, and Boston 92.0. Milton and Dublin reports pending.

Miss Whelma Miller of Indianapolis and others spent Sunday with Mrs. Allee Beeson in Richmond. Dr. and Mrs. Paul G. Hill hosted his Noblesville parents for Sunday guests.
