Dr John W Rutledge 1845 1919 Dies in Minneapolis

Dr John W Rutledge died of a stroke at 2 a m Monday February 24 1919 at his home 2536 Third Ave S Minneapolis in his 74th year Born in Mt Sterling Ohio he studied at Athens and Cincinnati and served in the Civil War He built a large medical practice in our city and later moved to Minneapolis where he held a chair at the medical college He leaves a widow and daughter Janette and is survived by three brothers and a sister He was laid to rest February 26 beside his daughter Kathryne in Minneapolis cemeteries.

Soldier Alson Powell Dies in Belgian Conflict

A 1,529,528, Co. E, 148th Infantry sergeant from Cambridge City Indiana fell on October 31 near Olsene Belgium from machine gun fire. Division Orders cite his bravery under fire and his supreme sacrifice. He is buried near Olsene and graves photos will be sent to his father Ty Powell.
