The Interstate Commerce Commission granted the C C C and St L Railway plea to discontinue fourteen miles of line from Beeson Station to Hagerstown, Cambridge City, Wayne County. Last regular train service slated for March 17 amid protests from local citizens and businesses over persistent losses as buses and trucks vied for travel. The Big Four line, once busy with two daily passenger trains to Cincinnati and a summer Sunday excursion, now operates only one freight train in each direction.
