Township assessors and deputies met at county Assessor Compton’s office to receive marching orders for work starting March 1, not April 1 as before. The Knights of Pythias district meeting in Connersville drew large visiting delegations and featured speeches, music, and rank presentations, with strong hospitality and a well received program.
Clayton Beard of Dayton spends Sunday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Beard. Several locals move or travel for work and school. Aged Mrs. Jane Moore dies near the city. Wayne county social events, Odd Fellows meeting, and lodge entertainments are reported along with local church and school notes.
Miss Lora Henley visited Richmond while Ed Henley returned from Oklahoma. Bishop Floyd toured Huntington on church matters. Fannie Weed of Indianapolis visits her uncle Thos Weed. The Cripe child ill with pneumonia. John Farrell of Pittsburgh in town to greet friends. B B Huddleston published a song Barbara. Snow benefits local wheat. Mason family hosted at Rushville. Cambridge workers too sick to work. Thomas Stanley ill with bronchitis. Dublin M E charge met at Lewisville. Wm McMahan traveled to Indianapolis for eye surgery. Scott McCann sale drew crowds, some horses unsold. Hogs sold well. Mr Switzer died Feb 24 after illnesses, survived by three wives and five children across marriages. funeral at Friends church and interment at Earlham. faith and trials noted.
Miss Bessie Lamott is seriously ill and Lincoln Hebble has been sick for days. Frank Gipe is off duty with grip. Alice Wallick is sick at Mrs. Thomas Castle’s home with fever. Chas Hess visits Vernon and Indianapolis. Evangelical church revival continues this week. Mrs H B Lyons visits daughter Mrs Georg Condo in Wilkinson. Chas Hidy moves family to Peter Rowe’s property. Mrs Aaron Wharton returns from Knightstown. Miss Daisy Petty fainted at school then returned to work. Mr and Mrs Andrew Reigle plan Indianapolis 50th wedding anniversary attendance at Jacob Spence’s event next Monday.
Carl Coffman began work at Reidston on Monday. Mrs. Frank Eliason hosted friends Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Beeson and sons from Cambridge City attended the play Saturday night. Rev. Morris of Dublin will preach at the Christian church Sunday. E. P. Scott and wife from Cambridge City visited Saturday night. Elmer Fagan was surprised by friends Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller hosted dinner guests Sunday. The Home Dramatic Co. presented Its All in a Pay Streak with strong praise and a planned repeat show next Saturday March 4. Admission ten and fifteen cents.
Lewis Byer shuts the Challenge bakery to remodel the building and implement significant changes. The work will take several weeks to finish.
