The North and East Central Association of the Order of the Eastern Star will hold its third annual picnic on August 25 in Tipton city park. All members are invited with Rosary chapter Tipton as hostesses. A noon picnic dinner and special afternoon program are planned.
A Friday rally at the Jacksonburg church marks the S W district Young Peoples conference including Cambridge City Dublin Jacksonburg Milton Pershing and Doddridge Chapel. A supper on the church lawn followed by a recreation hour and church meeting. Choir practice in Cambridge City Friday night. Bernice Hormel presides.
Indianapolis residents Mr. and Mrs. P. J. OConnell and Mrs. May Cramer with grandchildren Joan and Austin Cramer visited Ed Roy south of town. Local escorts included L. R. Kirby with Clyde Austin family near Hopewell, Lola Huddleston from Richmond with Elbert Atkins and family, and New Castle visitors Mrs. Fred Palin and Ora Riley. The Women's Home Institute club met at Alfred Kerseys with fifteen members and two guests. topics centered on home and family, featuring Edgar Guest poems and a paper on the Typical American Family.
Submarine bathing emerges as a new sport at Bermuda beaches with bathers walking ten to twenty feet below the surface. A simple diving helmet supplies air via a surface tube, allowing divers to walk the sea floor in bathing suits and sandals.
Paul W. McKee a Dublin native and Hartford City Kiwanis president is nominated by the Hartford City club to lead Indiana Kiwanis as district governor at the September convention in French Lick. He chairs Hartford City's welfare association and sits on the Chamber of Commerce board while heading Overhead Door’s engineering division. Cambridge City Kiwanis backs his bid. The current district governor is Luther M. Feeger of the Richmond Palladium.
Mrs Vern Chapman entertained forty five guests from Indianapolis Muncie Hagers town Richmond Madison Arcanum Ohio and this city at her North High street home last evening. The Chapman home was decorated in pastel pink and green. A miscellaneous shower for Miss Allread accompanied by Maurice R Bookout of Hagerstown is planned for August 6 at the Hagerstown M E church.
Mr and Mrs Earl Tout of New Castle spent Thursday evening with his mother Mrs Robert Wharton in a family gathering.

Clarence Rheubottom of Straughn Indiana died by self inflicted gunshot Saturday evening at his home north of Straughn. He used a 12 gauge shotgun placing the weapon to his temple before his wife could intervene. No cause was given. The body was taken to Kentucky for burial after funeral arrangements.
Sarah Mehan aged 57 died at her Milton home Friday afternoon at 4 o clock. A Milton resident for fifty years she lived with the late Dr I N Sweeney. The body was taken to Greenville Ohio for services and burial held Sunday.
Oscar Landis Burke Jr. drowned at Creitz park's Whitewater river while rescuing sister Nina. Involved divers from Ronald Smith to Lyle Edwards retrieved the body after 3 hours as Scouts aided. burial at Dublin Cemetery. Survived by mother Mrs Lena Burke and sisters Nina and Ethel.
Mr and Mrs William Bowlan entertained as their Sunday evening guests Mr and Mrs Everett Mason and sons of Centerville and Mrs Martin Kellam.
Mrs L C Calkins and her daughter of Alhambra California were house guests of Mr and Mrs C M Howard last week. They departed Monday to visit friends in Lima Ohio before returning home.

Mr and Mrs Clarence McMahan of Richmond were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Russell Chapman. Mr and Mrs A E Cain were dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Chas Oler in Dublin Sunday. Errett I Wilson and family of Miami Florida are visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Sanford Wilson. Sunday afternoon guests were Mr and Mrs Frank Miles and Mr and Mrs Clarence Wilson of Ft Wayne.

A plane from Cambridge City to Rushville to fetch a pulmotor for a drowning boy crashed at Howell airport injuring no one. Pilot Lavern Lower escaped unharmed and returned in a borrowed plane with the pulmotor. The boy, Junior Burke, had been pulled from White River after diving to save his sister. his body was recovered minutes later.
After the season closed, Standard Mfg Co offers their stock of Lawn Chairs at low prices to Cambridge City residents. The Tribune displays chairs in its office and can take orders, inviting folks to view them even if not buying. Chairs are locally made in Cambridge City.

Bruce L. Peters of Cambridge City seeks the Indiana Department of the American Legion State Commander position at the Ko komo meeting. Peters, then Tenth District Commander, has statewide support from most district posts and has visited all districts to promote his candidacy. He is a DePauw University alum and a former Rainbow Division artillery lieutenant with active Legion and Reserve Officers Association leadership. There will be several other candidates, but Peters’ supporters predict his election.
Mrs Fred Adrian spent the weekend with her sisters Mrs Clinton Millikan and Miss Georgia McLane in New Castle. Mrs Emma Fields and son Eugene of Cincinnati are visiting Mrs Adrian and relatives in New Castle. Tonight the Ad rians Mrs Fields and son with relatives will have a picnic supper in Memorial park north of the city.
Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Ellenberger are visiting Indianapolis, meeting with friends and former neighbors during the trip.
Mr and Mrs Russell Crockett and daughter Geraldine with Miss Marguerite Polk spent Sunday with Mrs Crockett's mother in Fairmount.
Geradine Crockett had tonsil surgery Monday at Connersville hospital. The procedure aimed to relieve throat issues and improve health.
