Commander Willard B. Overhiser, 93, a fading G A R Post 179 member and local carpenter, recalls Civil War service with the 34th Indiana Mor ton Rifles after enlisting in 1861. Born in Fayette County November 1 1541 he lived in Blackford Rush and Fayette counties before marrying Elizabeth Kemmer in 1873 and building many local structures. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1866 and is honored by the G A R W R C and friends for his years of service and fellowship.
