Resolutions of respect were ordered and the corps charter to be draped for thirty days.

Uriah S. Shoff, born in Lancaster County Pennsylvania more than 80 years ago, died January 2 at the Masonic Home in Franklin after retirement from business. He lived long in Fort Wayne and Germantown and was a traveling salesman for the George DeWald Company. Funeral services were held in Fort Wayne with Summit City Lodge No. 170 F and A M in charge. Surviving are two sisters Emma Van Buskirk of Muncie Catherine Newbold of Germantown and a brother Christopher Shoff of California.
Ray Jewell Dear ing was born last Saturday to Mr and Mrs Ray Dearing. Beat Kiser and wife welcomed a baby boy born Sunday.
A marriage license was issued Saturday in Wayne County clerk's office to Hodge Phipps and Cora Collins, listing Cambridge City as their home address.
Mrs. Cleo Shade was taken to Winchester hospital last Friday for major surgery on Saturday and is reported improving. Jacob Myers remains in critical condition with possible arm amputation to save his life. Miss Nellie Jackson is seriously ill with intestinal flu.
New church trustees Oliver Seffrin and Earl Boyer succeed Fred Storch and Herbert Walsh while last year’s holdovers Martin Kennedy and John Eiser remain. Holy Name society officers for 1930 are Martin Kennedy president George Rihm secretary and Ben Daniels treasurer. Ladies Solidity altar society officers are Mrs Joseph Green president Katherine Pusinelli secretary and Lillian Summers treasurer.
The school board hires G. C. Kreglow of De Graff Ohio to teach physics chemistry and algebra at Lincoln high school. He replaces James Bozoarth who leaves this semester for studies at Indiana University on leave from local duties. Bozoarth will pursue degrees at Indiana University.
Martin Kennedy has leased the Cambridge Cafe at the Big Four railroad and Main street and will begin business the last of this week.
Mrs James Hunt will spend the weekend with her son Gilbert in Columbus Ohio.
The Jackson Township Farmers Institute is announced for February 12 and 13 at the Lincoln Auditorium Cambridge City. Speakers include C C Fisher on soil fertility and education topics, Mrs H L Solberg on health and footwear, Amos Sourbrine on turkeys, J L Dolan on Wayne Dairy work, with local and state speakers and a Thursday playlet The Bishop's Candlestick. Sessions start 10 am and 1 pm with a basket lunch and coffee.
The group met last Wednesday for a cold hike to Lake Wehi with twenty hardy boys completing the trip. A warm fire and games followed as two boys faced snow discipline on the return. Miss Margaret Bruner and Miss Eva Roudabush of Greenfield visited Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Bassett over the weekend. Mrs. Sarah Stombaugh is seriously ill with colitis. Mr. and Mrs. James Bozoarth spent Monday in Indianapolis with relatives. Thena V. McLaughlin attended an Ex-Teachers meeting in Richmond and dined with Mrs. Ethel Okel on South Third Street. The B. and M. Music Study Club met with Miss Rose Griesinger. Mrs. F. J. Scudder visited her parents in Knightstown. Martha Whitton of Newcastle returned home after two weeks with her grandmother Mrs. Martha Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moore visited relatives in Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Clark spent Sunday with her mother Mrs. Martha Campbell.
At Pur due last week Homer Lannerd won first place in the potatoes section. The event highlighted local farm produce with Lannerd topping rival entries and earning top honors in the judging.
The Junior and Senior English classes take up public speaking. Mr and Mrs Nelson Carson of Centerville visit Mr and Mrs Charles Groves. Miss Katherine Stant visits Miss Margaret Toms. The Junior class rehearsed Ruth in a Rush. Harrisburg grade team played Bentonville here Thursday. Lewisville high played here Friday.
Friday morning chapel at Lincoln High School will be led by Lester Vickers. Mr and Mrs Thalls of Hagerstown visited Orville Thalls and other relatives here on Sunday.
The Friday Night Club meets with Dr and Mrs Kniese in Milton this Thursday evening. Mrs Willard Petro hosted the Helen Hunt club meeting on Monday. Indiana visitors Mr and Mrs Frank Rummel and Mr and Mrs Perry Paul spent the weekend with Mrs Ollie Rummel and others. Orville Hoel and Miss Vera Gilbert host an oe program at the Center school Friday at 3 PM.

Miss Margaret Thurman of Indianapolis spent the weekend with her mother Maude Thurman. Miss Emily Langston returns to Purdue after illness. Ollie Macy and William Jay traveled to Newcastle on Friday. Mrs. Maude Thurman in Conn ersville. Miriam Macy visited with Orville Kinsinger and sons at Newcastle. Dallas Stites aided Jesse Huddleston with butchering. Howard Hawk of Nea Binco called on Robert Weed yesterday.
