Talks by Legion members emphasized fellowship and civic projects. Fred and Mrs Otte picked up two hitchhikers who held them at gunpoint near Hendricks county. the car was later recovered near Planfield after police pursuit.
Lincoln high school Wampus Kittens, a reserve squad, defeated Hagerstown 23 to 17 in the finals of the Second-Team Tournament. Earl Hickman scored 17 points in the last half and the final quarter to spark the comeback, with Cummins adding seven for Lincoln. Hagerstown led early but was outscored after the third quarter as the Kittens claimed their second consecutive tourney crown in the fifth annual event.
Mrs. Mary Llewllyn of Richmond died Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Murray as she spent the winter there. She was 90, long known in the community, and formerly matron at the Pennsylvania station. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Howard Funeral Home with burial in Earlham Cemetery. Rev. W. H. Harrison officiated.
Charles Alberts aged 56 of Richmond died at Reid hospital after major surgery. Survived by step-daughter Helen Largen of Richmond, three sisters Mrs. Margaret Smith of Indianapolis, Mrs. Nettie Whetsel of Anderson, Mrs. Nellie Slouiker of Hagerstown, and brother John Alberts of Texas. Funeral at Wiseman Funeral Home with Rev. F C McCormick officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.
Relatives report the death of James E. Doddridge aged 70 at his Portland Oregon home on January 10 after months of illness. He was a native of the Doddridge Chaapel area and a son of the late David Doddridge. He leaves a widow, a daughter Mrs Norvella Stewart, a son Ralph, three brothers Ben Charles and Isaac, a sister Mrs Gertie Spahr and two granddaughters.
The Composite Index fell 1.5 points pushing it 13.3 percent below normal though activity remains 22 percent above a year ago and at the strongest January level since 1930. Automobiles, textiles, lumber, and coal dipped with holiday slowdowns while car loadings and steel rebounded. The AAA overthrow dominates weekly headlines with mixed near-term effects but long-term approval among observers.

Mrs Thomas Woodward is seriously ill with flu. Her sister Mrs John Judkins of Cambridge City is staying with her. Mrs Abner Langston, ill with flu, is slowly recovering. Mr and Mrs Elbert Cummins and daughters visited near Crothersville. Mr and Mrs Fred Palin and Mr and Mrs Will Hill of Straughn were guests of Carroll Smalley. Mrs Will Morgan hosted a birthday dinner for her mother Mrs Alice Cooney. Guests included Mr and Mrs Alva Roberts and Mr and Mrs Oakley Haskett of near Lewisville. Mr and Mrs Elmer Fryman and Rev J C Smith and family from Cambridge City were dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Sam Gerber. Mrs Will Morgan and Mrs Alice Cooney visited Emma Palin in Dublin.
