Methodist Parsonage Destroyed by Late Night Fire

A fire at the Mulberry street Methodist parsonage around 11 30 PM Monday destroyed the second story and damaged the first. Rev Wm H Harrison was away at revival services. the family saved some belongings. Loss estimated near four thousand dollars with some insurance.

Reward for 50 Year Service on Pennsylvania Railroad

Lincoln Gipe an engineman on the Pennsylvania railroad received a 50 year service button presented by R C Barnard general agent and superintendent. Gipe began service in January 1878 and has run the Cincinnati Richmond branch train between Logansport and Cincinnati for over forty years. He plans to retire soon.

Threefold safety plan to protect rail viaduct area

The Pennsylvania railway engineers and state highway commission agreed last Friday on a threefold safeguard at the National Road viaduct near Hiser's Station. Floodlights will illuminate midstream piers, yellow reflectors and signs alert drivers, and the National Road will be widened on both sides to create a straight roadway. No delays are expected to implement the changes.
