Civil War Veteran Captain Tyner laid to rest in Riverside
Captain Richard H. Tyner 98 died last Friday night at his home in New Castle after illness from pneumonia. Born in Cambridge City in 1840, he served from 1861 as a Union officer with the Ninth Indiana Infantry, later becoming a prominent G A R leader. Funeral services were held at his home with burial at Riverside cemetery in Cambridge City with military rites.
