Dublin Indiana announces a large community Christmas tree and a Santa visit on Christmas Eve. Santa will travel from Cambridge City to Dublin at 6:30 PM to greet officials and more than 300 children who will receive gifts.
Mrs. Alva Sarver and her son Thomas of Hopewell were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Enyeart, sharing a social visit and time together.
Mr and Mrs John Samuels Mr and Mrs Rodger Kennedy and daughters of New Castle Mrs Alice Beeson and son Wayne of Richmond will host a dinner Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Glen Beeson.
Mr Otto Cook and wife and their son of Cumberland spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs C H Graver, sharing time in a cordial family visit with local neighbors.
Mr and Mrs Robert Myers hosted a family dinner Sunday for their 34th wedding anniversary. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Edwin Jones and daughters Nila and Cora Helen, and Mr and Mrs Harley Garrett with daughter Joan and Gus Garrett.

Various families visited including Scott Ledbetter Stover and Mahan clans from Richmond and Hagerstown. A Christmas program is planned for December 24 at the church with public invitation. Ella B Harter of Whittier is arriving to spend the holidays with George Harter and sister. Mrs Norman of near Cambridge City visited Mrs Hugh Fagan. Washington-vell dinner guests noted for George Personnette and Mrs Charles Riggs.

Motorists face a dangerous detour bridge over the river with repeated accidents. Early morning frosts worsen conditions and call for careful driving until thaw. Last Saturday about 8 30 Mr and Mrs Rollie Hogan of Pershing were horrifically cut and shocked after their car plunged through rails into the water. Sunday a young man and his girl friend narrowly escaped when their car skidded and ran over the bridge.
The W R C No 151 holds an all day meeting and Christmas party at the Red Men’s Hall this Friday December 18. Members should bring a 10 cent gift for exchange.
The American Legion Auxiliary invites over one hundred undernourished children to a Christmas dinner at the Legion rooms next Wednesday evening December 23 around 4 o clock. A chicken dinner with trimmings will be served and each child will receive a small token. Last year about 125 youths attended this annual event praised by state and national Auxiliary headquarters.
Kiwanis members invite all community children under 12 to a free Christmas show at the Grand Theatre this Thursday at 2 PM. E. V. Whelan leads the Kiwanis Christmas committee and will supervise the event.
The Legion Auxiliary schedules a regular meeting next Monday at 7 30 PM in the Legion hall with a social hour and Rehabitation committee chaired by Mattie Jacobs. The Junior Sunday school presents Gifts for Jesus December 20 at 7 15 PM and the Junior and Senior choirs perform the Good Will To Men cantata on Christmas Eve at 7 15 PM with cast including Enos Kenneth Sowers and Dorothy Bertsch.

Virginia C. Meredith 88 died last Thursday at the home of her adopted daughter Miss Mary Matthews in West Lafayette after a three month illness. She was the first woman on Purdue University Board of Trustees serving since 1921 and reappointed last July for a new term. She led in home and farm development and ran a 400 acre farm near Cambridge City with prize Shorthorn cattle and Shropshire sheep. She helped found the Indiana Federation of Clubs and was honorary president. Survived by an adopted son Meredith Matthews and a brother Frank Claypool. Funeral at Miss Matthews home with burial in Riverside cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Rees spent Saturday with relatives at Rushville, noting a peaceful visit and family gathering.

Early Sunday morning a blaze leveled the home of Elmer Newkirk in Mount Auburn along with its contents. A family member awoke to smoke, prompting all to flee in night attire through extreme cold. Little of the household goods were saved. the loss is partly insured.
A daughter was born Sunday to Mr. and Mrs. Don Davidson, adding a new member to the family.
