No Cure All for Farm Troubles

Babson Park Mass August 24 Secretary Wallace and aides in the Agricultural Department are dissatisfied with the farm program. Prices for cotton and wheat are down, corn off 50 percent since 1937, and subsidies cover only four major products. A broad plan is urged embracing seven lines of action to revive farming, including foreign markets, cut operating costs, encouraging self sufficiency, rural relocation, industrial uses of farm products, and removing political influence from farming policy. The piece argues the problem is systemic and requires sacrifice across society.
