Des Moines Iowa hosts the G A R National encampment September 24 to 29 with return fare provided by railways. Miners resume work in Indiana and Illinois as coal operators and miners near a Cleveland conference end a strike. Local public notices list township election clerks and schedules.
Oliver Manlove and family returned from Lake Barbee. Miss Julian Hittle visited Zionsville friends. Mr. and Mrs. Orver Hess welcomed a newborn son August 21. Willa and Hallie Bidgood of Shelbyville visited Nettie Bennett. Indianapolis visitors included Anna Ubbick and Elizabeth McMeans and John McMeans. The Leverton reunion drew many relatives to Marion. Martin V. Brown’s ninety acres lead a top corn crop, with Washington township promising a 25 year high due to dry June cultivation and timely rains.
Miss Mary Beard is ill with potential typhoid fever. Rev. Ehrhardt returned from Duakwood Park. evangelistic meetings begin Wednesday and run nightly through Sept. 10 with Rev. Lozier taking charge on Aug. 29. School starts Sept. 4. Lutheran Sunday school room to be used briefly. Families and visitors noted include Koehers at Lake Webster, the Hebble and Chambers families, Oldaker returning to Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. Flora Ehle celebrated at a birthday gathering with neighbors and the Neighborly club members applauding the 50th milestone.

Vern DeHays and wife hosted Barbara Swallow and son Emmet Dye and wife of Abington and Orville Hensley and family of Sulphur Springs as guests.
