The Tribune notes steamboat packets have resumed service on the Mississippi and other southern waterways after 18 months, with 47 vessels returning. Once romantic floating palaces, they now operate as freight carriers with passenger service as a minor role, commanded by veterans returning from shore life.
The 45th annual Home Coming at Doddridge drew an eager crowd with 215 registered at noon and a steady stream afterward. Rev E T Eaton D D of New York and Rev Bunyan of Richmond delivered sermons on motive and workers with God. Officers and ministers from multiple towns attended as flowers adorned the church and plans for next year’s event were approved.

The twenty fifth annual Rothermel reunion gathered August 18 at Glen Miller park with about 150 members and friends. Attendees enjoyed a large noon dinner, renewed old ties, and heard a short literary program before a business meeting elected Charles Rothermel president and John Rothermel vice president.
Mrs Lucy Parker aged 64 died at her home south of Milton Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. She is survived by her husband, son Ross Parker of Salem, and other relatives. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 30 from the Christian church with Rev F C McCormick officiating. Committal at Valley Grove.
Mr and Mrs D L Sizelove visited Mechanicburg Ohio with the latters parents. Miss Ellen Saxon of Indianapolis visits relatives in Cambridge City and Richmond. Junior boys Sunday school held a three day outing near Waterloo led by Mr and Mrs Fred Hackleman and Frances. Fourteen baptismal candidates were received at Williams Creek and baptized at Milton. Revival meeting concluded with Sunday attendance at Sunday school reaching 95.
Mr and Mrs John Newbold visited relatives and attended the Muncie fair last week.
