The April PTA gathering at Lincoln High School on Wednesday April 13 at 7 30 pm features Richmond speaker Mrs George Burbanck presenting on Character Building. A special musical program is included and organizers urge all parents and guardians to attend.
The next regular W. R. C. meeting will be held tomorrow afternoon. A letter from Camp Custer Government hospital in Michigan acknowledged the Foster box sent by the local W. R. C. Two membership applications were read, and other business planned for the weeks ahead.
A Friday morning chapel at Lincoln High will be conducted by Miss Mary C. Dickson and Paul Lamberson. Last Friday’s standout program featured A J Bernault of the Bernault School of Expression Indianapolis who delivered the Go Getter to a receptive student body.
Germantown residents and relatives added color to a weekend with visits spanning from Richmond to Cambridge City. Roberts Chase and Whitley traveled to Cincinnati while families hosted dinners and carded guests in Connersville Indianapolis and Maxwell with clubs and tours planned for next week.
James Willis and William Clayton longtime residents died last week. Funerals held at the Christian church with burial in Lewisville cemetery. Straughn items report attendance at a State Sunshine convention, PTA meeting scheduled, and local property moves involving Maple Jarvis and Haskett properties.
Cambridge City prepares to welcome Miss Martha Jane who will arrive soon for an open ended visit. The community hopes she may choose Cambridge City as her permanent home and she is described as sunny, stylish, sociable, and active in church work and school events.
The Town Board named William D. Judkins and Miss Katherine Kniese to the Public Library Board at Monday’s meeting. Also appointed by Judge Hoelscher on March 17 were I. J. L. Harmeier for three years, Edith Hughes for two, Oliver Wallace of Milton for two, and Will Guyton of Dublin for two. Emerson Cloyd and Mrs. E. O. Paul have one year remaining. remaining members include Albert Newman of Milton and T. J. Graves, both serving by township trustees’ offices.
Local club met for an all day session with Mrs Will Taylor while visitors from Lafayette Harrisburg Cambridge City Richmond and New Castle called on residents. The Ladies Aid Society gathered with Mrs J M Gilmer and many households hosted friends and relatives including visits by Norma Taylor Vene O’Dell and Miss Rhea Brooks returning to Earlham College after a state tour. Regular church services noted with A L Stamper as pastor and multiple family visits described.
Announcement from Dr and Mrs Felix Kreig of Indianapolis reveals Frances Kreig to wed Dr Paul Furgason in St. Joan of Arc Church Indianapolis on May 11. Dr Furgason, son of Mr and Mrs R L Furgason, is a Cambridge City High School graduate and has practiced medicine in Indianapolis for several years.
Mrs Mildren Moffett hosted a Saturday afternoon party from 2 to 4 for her daughter Doris on her sixth birthday. Guests included Carolyn Smalley Martha Jane Smalley Mary Margaret Scheicher Elizabeth Tiefenthaler Vera Olive Moffett Peggy Joan Morse Charlene Vanderbeck Charlene Fink Evalyn Joyce Coa Betty Taylor and Doris Moffett as honoree.
Mr and Mrs Morris Jobe Mrs Grover Hern and Richard Stevens spent Sunday with Mrs Lizzie Deaver in Pendleton Henry German of Everton is spending this week at the home of Mr and Mrs Grover Hern

Mr and Mrs Russell Miner hosted relatives in Lucerne over Sunday. Miss Doris Miner of Lucerne and Miss Carrie Smith of Plymouth are visiting Mr and Mrs Miner this week.
Mr and Mrs Harry Bradway entertained Sunday dinner guests including Mr and Mrs Melvin Gollay and family and Rev and Mrs McCormick.
Mrs Bruce Henderson returned home after two weeks with her mother near Norman Station who was seriously ill.
Charles Vanderbeck hosted Grover Hern from Locust Grove. Ida Bertsch of New Castle visited her sister Mrs. Clark Faucett. Mrs. Clara Ingermann and Mrs. Edna Fay joined Sunday luncheon with Mr. and Mrs. EF. Swan near Dublin. Ingermann and Fay later visited Mrs. Ralph Kofski in Richmond. Julius Plummer of Terre Haute and his wife stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jackson this week.
Mrs C B Miller of Chicago will spend the last of this week with Mr and Mrs Ollie Poweller, visiting in their home.
Mrs Melissa Ammerman 77 died after a short illness Friday evening at her son Park Ammerman's home one mile north of Pershing. She lived most of her life in Wayne county and belonged to the Jacksonburg Christian church. She is survived by four sons Park Carl Walter of Pershing and Roy of Richmond, a sister Mrs David Bertsch of Pershing, a brother Alonzo Worl of Cambridge City and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at the Jacksonburg church with Rev A H Stamper officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery.
The town board is dredging the river west of the river bridge and north of the Coney property to straighten the river and repair damage to the north bank. While doing so, they are piling gravel for street construction, claiming the gravel is of unusually good grade.
Charles F. Wheeler is among twelve filing for county treasurer in the May 3 primary. He faces four Democratic opponents including townsman Charles Diffenderfer. The Republican side lists seven candidates.

Mrs. A. R. Martindale hosted a spring party with Mrs. George Rihm as guest of honor. Guests played tallies at three tables with high scores awarded to Mrs. Ben Johnson, second to Mrs. Harry Stannah, and third to Mrs. Joe Green.

Earl Clevenger and Arthur Cornth waite spent Sunday in Cincinnati. Mrs. Malinda Mills had as her Sunday guests, Mrs. Emma Brennam and daughter Grace of Fountain City, Miss Marjorie Mills of Hopewell and Charles Pentecost.
Mrs. Mary Paul widow of Daniel Paul aged 80 died at her home south of town last Friday morning. She leaves four sons Roy Lindley and Reginald Eli and two daughters Mrs Dan Petro and Mrs William Guyton, one brother Charles Stafford and a sister Mrs Josephine Black. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon with burial in Riverside cemetery.
Mrs Dan Howeas was taken to a Ft Wayne hospital Monday for observation and treatment in C M Howards ambulance.
A sequence of luncheons honors Mrs. C. H. Crawford of New York City, staying ten days with Mrs. George Callaway. Mrs. Abiram Boyu hosted a luncheon Saturday, with Mrs. Callaway planning a meal Friday and Mrs. Mary Illiti hosting several guests Saturday.
Sky the famous dog of postmaster Foss nearly died Sunday when a chicken bone lodged in his throat. Foss quickly reached down Sky’s throat to remove the bone and save the animal, who then showed gratitude to his master and mistress.
