They plan to marry in Cairo next week and honeymoon at the Great Pyramid area. Laurence, an Egyptian national, and Pederson anticipate a life together in the United States after marriage.
Riverside California yesterday members of the Democratic State Central Committee accused farm policies under President Esenhower and Agriculture Secretary Evra T Benson of serving the interests of big food packers giant processors and large baking and dairy interests.
In New York a gunman fired during a midnight Easter procession at a church art exhibit. One worshiper died and five were wounded as the assailant, Romanian-born Tony Tudorache also known as Savas, fled after firing four shots. Police launched a city-wide manhunt and checked ships for possible escape. Princess Ileana was not harmed.
Altadena lad George B Storey age six was found alive after 29 hours of wandering in rugged Mt Wilson terrain. He spent the night in near freezing temperatures after disappearing during a family picnic Saturday afternoon near the summit. A large search by 100 plus volunteers and authorities, aided by a helicopter, located him at Strayns Canyon and he was brought to Red Box Ranger Station.
Anthony Avizienis, 23, faced seven traffic charges after leading officers on a high speed chase down Lincoln Ave. Wahler Kilgore and Stanley Schall pursued as Avizienis exceeded 60 mph at Lincoln and Forest. He unsafe lane passed twice and forced another vehicle to brake sharply before arrest at Casitas St and Lincoln Ave.
Lyndon Johnson emerges as a strong dark horse for the Democratic presidential nomination after a clear Texas victory over Allan Shivers. He wins about 5600 precinct conventions, wrests control of the Texas State Democratic Party and its 36 national convention votes, and gains national political momentum.
In heavy fog fifty miles east northeast of Cape Henry the battleship Wisconsin rammed the destroyer escort Eaton. No casualties reported. The collision tore a 30 foot hole in the Eaton and damaged the Wisconsin prow. Salvage vessels and a tug sped from Norfolk to assist as 14 ships were maneuvering nearby.
