Youths Given Life Sentences in Florida Rape Case

Four white youths from Pensacola were sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a Negro coed at Gulf Point during her college spring formal. Judge W May Walker called the crime horrific and said the death penalty was not warranted after a jury recommended mercy. The victims and families sobbed as the defendants, aged 18 to 23, received their sentences and were orderly as they left for the state penitentiary.

Azusa Bay Robbery Ends in Fatal Accident

A lone bandit robbed the Culver City Sea Finance Co office, fled in a car, and was struck by a driver on Mauna Loa and Citrus Avenues. The assailant died, a 21 year old Richard Luther Matson surrendered hours later. Thomas William Gabbert, 18, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized in Glendora with multiple injuries.

Blaze Hits School in Folsom Union High

A fire reportedly started in the boiler room swept through parts of Folsom Union High School yesterday causing about 200000 dollars in damage. Fire crews contained the blaze with units from nearby districts assisting. No injuries are reported.
