One Killed Six Hurt in Road Crash Monrovia
Three people died and six were injured in two separate crashes in Monrovia last night. One collision involved a train and a car near California Street and Duarte Road, the other a two car wreck at Peck Road and Camino Street. Police said two African American individuals were killed in the train car incident.

6000 Lose Homes in Jap Blaze
In Naze on Amami Oshima Island a fire started before dawn in a restaurant and swept through four blocks. Fringe winds and a poor water supply hampered firefighting, leveling nearly 1600 homes and leaving about 6000 people homeless. No casualties were reported, and the city’s large population was disrupted by the disaster.
