Community notices report prayer group calls, meetings, entertainments, and social events in Caldwell and North Caldwell. The Ladies Aid Society of Cald well Presbyterian Church held a memorable on Monday evening with a large crowd. Guests delivered toasts on topics like The Ladies Aid and Caldwell's Future, followed by remarks from Rev St John Fitch and others as part of a Dry Toast Banquet. The Village Improvement Association plans new events, including a French Market, with committees assigned and Mrs Raven expected to attend.
The Fourteenth Anniversary services of the Baptist Young People's Union will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday May 6 at eight o'clock. Rev Edwin Hainer of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church New Ark will deliver an address. Invitations have been issued to Young People's Societies of Caldwell and nearby towns and a large delegation is hoped to attend.
In 1879, Mr. Hedden became principal of Caldwell School, expanding a five-room, five-teacher campus into a full four-year high school. By 1888 Caldwell High made the New Jersey high school list, and New York boards then admitted Caldwell graduates into university programs without extra exams. The school now trains about 300 students with nine rooms and ten teachers and plans two more rooms and two teachers next fall. Hedden founded the library, helped boost attendance, and led local educational associations in Essex County.
The visiting Roseland A C won a close ball game against Caldwell V M C at Roseland grounds. Final score details are incomplete with Roseland securing the victory on a damp Saturday afternoon.
The children's auxiliary met at Mrs. Isaac E. Baldwin's home Friday afternoon. With help from Mrs. Butler and Mrs. Baldwin, the group prepared a large box of wildflowers shipped Saturday morning to Whittier House in Jersey City for distribution among White nails in the sluma. Each child whispered a blessing with her picked blooms.
Caldwell adopts Erie Railroad mail route with incoming deliveries at 7 24 a m 10 am 2 49 p m 5 19 pm and outgoing departures at 7 am 11 30 pm 3 45 pm with registered pouch options. Lawn mowers are in active use.
Verona educators discussed plans for new land and building costs for Verona and Cedar Grove schools. The board noted crowded unsanitary rooms at School No. 2 and approved a June 30 closing, plus new appointments for principals and teachers and the resignation of Miss May Fleetham.

Bring a basket lunch and enjoy informal talks on child needs and church education led by state officers Mrs Alonzo Pettit and Miss Josephine Baldwin.
The children’s sermon is set for tomorrow morning at the Baptist Church. Mr. Leslie Maitland of New York visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McQuade. An interesting program has been arranged for the Baptist Church tonight. Mr. Edward Iatelle and family of Orange have moved into the house vacated by Mr. H Weigel.
The Caldwell Sunshine Society will host a May 1 gathering from three to six PM at Miss Ada Wheeler’s home. The next meeting is set for May 4 at eight PM at Miss Ayres Peck’s residence.
Mrs Eliza Kirk aged ninety five dies at her son Benjamin Kirk’s home in Central Yenupen Sunday. She was longtime resident of Caldwell and member of the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral held Thursday afternoon. Plans announced for preaching and a church meeting Saturday night.
The Common Council debates a $20,000 water bond issue for Caldwell New Jersey with a July 1 1902 issue date. Proposals are invited by May 16 1902 and bids marked Water Bonds are to be sent to Borough Clerk John J Van Order.

She also chairs the good literature committee of the Christian Endeavor Society at Westminster Church.
Mrs J C Canniff and son Robert of Verona accompany Florence Canniff to Boston for her Emerson College commencement where she graduates with high honors after three years of study. The event features Class Day and two Shakespearean plays The Merchant of Venice and Julius Caesar with Mr Canniff in a leading role. Florence plans to return home next week with a companion.
Mr William T Richards of Verona married Miss Mary A Waters of Montclair on April 9 in Verona with Rev J L Hayes officiating. Mr David Harris of New York was best man and Miss Ann Kimting of New York was bridesmaid. The couple will reside in Verona.
Epworth League Anniversary of the Methodist Church of Verona will be held tomorrow evening at 7:30 in the Verona church. Pastor Rev. J. Boswell will deliver an address on The Best Line of Charles Wesley. All are invited.
