At the semi monthly Freeholders' Committee on Lunacy meeting in Overbrook the bake r at the Asylum asked for an assistant. They planned to obtain a dough mixing machine. Dr Dill reported the resignations of three attendants with no stated reasons. The committee will meet again April 8 with 343 patients, 133 males and 210 females in the asylum.

Fear and wild rumors spread until Mr. Speer explained the bones belonged to a disbanded local secret organization. Residents now avoid the barn after dark and hurry by with uneasy glances.

John L. Gonneau attacked his wife Minnie during a heated Verona dispute on the Pompton turnpike. He choked her, then fired a revolver as she fled toward Montclair. Minnie filed charges of atrocious assault and battery with intent to kill. Gonneau was arrested and ordered to await trial.
