Davis poised to start quartz mining near Helena
A. J. Davis of Helena may soon retire the Vid Mendrie unit and begin quartz mining on his lode and nearby claims. Work has begun on the grade, with a ten-stamp mill planned. Davis aims for a prompt decision and will hire workers if favorable, while Chavis plans ore from Lexington and other lodes to determine the processing method. The project proceeds alongside mill completion, with stamps to be installed. Other reports note water supply restorations on several mines and a newly organized fire company by local residents.
