Rainbow Lead Lode Near Butte Promises Vast Mineral Vein
The Rainbow Lead lies north of Butte spanning nearly three miles with 10 to 12 foot vein widths. A shaft of 77 feet exposes a wide vein with ore from seven to five feet, assayed at 50 to 150 dollars per ton. Additional tests eastward show rich surface rock and about twenty tons of ore underway, police? development costs expected to be covered by sales. The lode appears extensive and potentially exhaustible, with several miles yet to be mined.
