What Makes a Good Editor
A good editor is born not made and combines instinct with experience. London papers show many brilliant writers who fail after brief displays while successful editors like Delane and Lowe manage reads, judgments, selections, and coordination rather than frequent writing. Editing demands judgment and synthesis over solo composition.
