Bates county hosts Old Settlers Day next Wednesday October 7 with a hearty program and premiums. Citizens from across the county will gather in the courthouse yard to share dinners and reminiscences of pioneer days, renewing neighborly ties and looking forward to a fine community event.
October schedule lists Republican Day on Wednesday with Hon. Herbert H Hadley speaking at 11:00 and Governor A B Cummings of Iowa speaking in the evening. Thursday marks Democratic Day with Hon. W S Cowherd speaking at 11:00 am and a national speaker planned for the evening.
