Black Kid Robber Stages Holdup In Zigzags Near Wawona
In June 1906 near Wawona California the outlaw known as Black Kid held up two Yosemite Stage trips at the Zigzags in Madera county. He forced passengers to stand in the sun for an hour, used a Winchester rifle to cover them, and even let a victim photograph him after loot was taken from sixteen riders. The bandit later commandeered a watch, instructed a passenger to repay a driver, and departed with the haul amid staged calm dialogue. Rewards totaling 250 dollars and appeal to Governor Gillett were offered for his capture.
