A radical ad extols Peruna as the finest tonic for a weary woman and as a permanent cure for nervous prostration caused by systemic catarrh. It cites testimonials, notes no narcotics, and claims long term safety while promising to prevent spring catarrh when used timely.
Nellie Taylor a 12 year old from Greene county near Springfield Missouri drank a large graspful of potassium cyanide mistaken for water at a carnival. She died moments later after a photographer tent scene and curbside thirst led her behind a curtain where she found a beasen fluid. Coroner Matthews ruled the death accidental.
Prof Elihu Thompson of Lynn demonstrated passing more than a million volts through his body with no tremor or discomfort. The display, for the Commercial Club of Boston, used a special apparatus and high frequency current, producing a finger tip flash and sparks that lit two incandescent lights held aloft.

Denver, June 10. Claims for damages totaling 400,000 were filed with the State Auditor by John H. Secret service men from Wallington arrest ed John Johnson a Swede for writ ing letters to Alice Roosevelt. He said he was sent from Sweden to marry Miss Roosevelt and communicated his mission in letters to the President's daughter. Johnson was taken to Jacksonville and recommitted to the asylum. He was a former inmate, out two years, working in a local grocery store.
A man fires at Vice President Fairbanks during a crowd gathering in Michigan. A blacksmith intervenes, attempting to stop the attack as officers move in and arrest the assailant. The incident disrupts the event with no reported fatalities.
June 9 Mich. Vice President Fairbanks, addressing about 2000 spectators, faced an attempted shooting by James McConnell, 32. Four detectives restrained McConnell after a brief struggle. he claimed future plans to kill Fairbanks. An angry crowd urged lynching as police escorted him to a patrol wagon for a sanity check. Fairbanks continued after a short interruption and later departed for home.

Leavenworth Kan June 10 The Kansas penitentiary board awarded a contract for a water purifying plant and a 3000 dollar appropriation was voted. The plant will purify and soften water for 125000 gallons daily at a cost of 2850 dollars. Officials report 1206 prisoners confined, the largest in the facility, of whom 411 are from Oklahoma.
A rough street incident is used to promote Kucklen's Arnica Salve as a cure for burns, sores, eczema and piles. The ad claims quick relief and names Frank T. Clauy's Drug Store as the seller.
Judge Leathers of Madison County Superior Court ruled the anti cigarette law constitutional except where it conflicts with interstate commerce. Importing and smoking cigarettes is allowed. selling or giving them away remains unlawful. Lowry was discharged and the State will appeal to test the law.
Chicago report states Mrs. Elizabeth Y. Asay will receive the $500000 bequest from Peter L. Kimberley, the late millionaire steel mill man, without contest. The will probated in Sharor, Pa., disposes of an estate of $4000000. Heirs include Amos C. Kimberley of West Liberty and his son Samuel C. Kimberley.
