Chas W Bowman of Lanham Maryland a published note endorses Peruna claiming full recovery from a severe cold in forty eight hours with use according to directions. He states his family also uses and recommends it to friends as a preventive for throat and head cold ailments.

In Charles City Iowa a mob of business professionals and locals broke into Floyd county jail with a steel rail and sledge through a brick wall at 11 PM. They dragged James Cullen a wealthy contractor from his cell and hanged him from Cedar River bridge after he killed his wife and his 15 year old stepson Twesdey in a quarrel over a trivial matter. The crowd numbered about 1000 by evening as Sheriff Merhorn failed to calm them.

Jefferson City Mo January 14 The most important bill of the forty nine introduced in the house Thursday moves to separate the banking inspection department from the secretary of state. It creates a state banking commission to be appointed by the governor with a 3000 dollar annual salary for the commissioner and 2500 dollar deputies. The bill allows up to eight bank examiners at 2000 dollars yearly and shifts all bank examinations to the new commission with operation to begin in 1909. The Missouri State Bankers Association backs it, but it awaits the governor Swanger’s term end.
