The Miami Bethel school resumed Monday following a two week break as most students and staff suffer from lagrippe. Several adults and children show illness but are improving. Mary Martin visited with sister Mrs Joe Herman, and Charles and John Shipp of north Missouri visited J D Chappell and R D Bond. John Shipp bought the Funk place north of town and plans to move with Mrs Shipp to their new home soon. Dr J M Norris, eye ear nose throat specialist, offers free eye tests and fitting glasses 9am to 4pm over Star Bakery Butler Mo.

Governor Glasscock announced the appointment of Davis Elkins to succeed the late Senator Elkins. The new Senator will serve until a legislature picks a long term successor.
