Not Guilty Verdict In 1917 Amsterdam Murder Case
George Vail was acquitted of murdering his wife in the August 25 1917 case after a one hour ten minute jury deliberation. The verdict was delivered at 11 15 pm with Vail showing composed restraint as friends reacted with subdued applause. The trial featured extensive testimony about the fire scene the body recovery and multiple witnesses including relatives neighbors and local officials.
