County court funds farm expert for Bates county
The Bates county court voted Saturday to appropriate 500 dollars annually for three years to pay a farm expert’s salary. The Commercial Club of the city pledged 1000 dollars yearly if needed, and the Chicago Train Exchange offered immediate 1000 dollars. The arrangement halves cost with university and federal government support. A mass meeting led by Wesley Denton discussed the plan with Prof. R. S. Besse and M. V. Carroll outlining details.
