Paul Grinstead editor of the Wathenia Times was stabbed and seriously wounded by Frank Warner, a drunken man, in Wathenia Kansas. The case echoes old political battles over county printing and a disputed mortgage, with talk of lynching in Troy where the suspect is jailed. Public administrator Otto reported missing near Cole County

Jefferson City reports F. J. H. Otto public administrator of Cole County disappeared after leaving Osage City on February 11. He rode to Lohman on business and was last heard of as possibly boarding an eastbound Missouri Pacific train. He is about 85, leaving a wife and one small child distressed as searches continue.

Families Face Fire At West Vabaone Homes

In West Vabaone at 1 a.m. Tuesday Henry AH Woden and J P Peek families barely escaped fire that consumed their homes. The elderly couple, aged 70 and 62, and son Walter 22 aided by the younger resident in saving them. Personal effects were lost as both houses burned to ashes. The Peck family previously resided in Butler and includes Mrs Mollie Graham, wife of Cicero Graham, living nearby.
