County debts and tax reform urged in Bates county
The Bates County Record discusses the county court duties to meet obligations as they arise without repudiating debts. It argues warrants must be paid as revenue allows, taxes and valuations must keep up, and a board of equalization can raise assessments to avoid jail under new enforcement. N D Winters, Miland Democrat, named candidate for Railroad and Warehouse Commissioner after a close defeat in 1906.
