Fatal joke ends life of Joplin gambler in hotel room
Nettie Kelley adopted fatal means to wake Snart the gambler in a hotel room. She poked a loaded 38 revolver under his nose and fired, the bullet entering the nose and brain. At the coroner's inquest she claimed she did not know the gun was loaded and was released on her own testimony. Snart, about 32, known as the Dago Kid, left money in a Joplin bank. No other witnesses were present.
