In St Louis on Feb 6 authorities report a major theft tied to the Pacific Express Company. A package valued at 35,000 dollars was traced from Dallas to St Louis, with 50,000 dollars remitted by City National Bank of Dallas. Suspect F A Dalton described. police pursue the missing greenbacks and gold.

Color Line in Kansas Coffee Price War

A colored lawyer, C H J Taylor, reports a Kansas City Kansas counterman charged him $2 for coffee and pie due to color. He paid ten cents after noting a ten cent price, asserting Kansas bans color discrimination and predicting the case will challenge the restaurant’s rule. Also advertises Hibbard's Rheumatic Syrup claiming to cure rheumatism by restoring kidney and liver health. Sold by all druggists.

Funeral Fight in Abilene Over Catholic Prayer

At Mrs. John Come’s funeral in Abilene Kansas, Catholics and Protestants clashed when the Episcopal rector began to pray. Mr Hines a Catholic leader disrupted the service, insulted attendees calling them heretics, and threatened to throw the body from the grave. A shovel in hand he drove Protestants from the cemetery before calm returned. The scene was described as disgraceful and chaotic.
