Bank offers deposits subject to check and loans money while making collections and conducting a general banking business. Real estate loan department makes loans on real estate long or short time at lowest rates without delay. Stockholders are T. Boulware president, WM. E. Walton vice president, and J. Kh. Jenkins cashier assistant cashier.
The county court met with Presiding Judge Cornell, associates Fix and Miller and county Clerk Drysdale. Actions included making Mo. State Bank the county depository at 1750, appointments for tax collection and miscellaneous warrants and licenses, and several asylum, school loan, and pool hall license decisions. Also noted were appointments of W. D. Yates deputy recorder and Gilbert Dean justice of the peace, and various rail assessments and farm services. Buffalo Bill discusses Indian policy in North Platte. Senate considers increasing General Custer widow’s pension.
In the February issue of a colored newspaper the editor calls on President Harrison to appoint a Black cabinet secretary. Figures named include J. M. Langston, ex-Congressman Lytch, ex-Minister J. M. Langston, Frederick Douglass, and James Townsend as qualified candidates to serve. The piece recalls Black political support for Harrison and argues a cabinet seat would honor that backing.
A heavy rain fell Friday night as J R Glass announced a public sale seven miles northwest of Sprague. The college social club enjoyed a successful meeting at the campus with a spirited debate. Prof Bryant organized a loan association tied to the college and controls vacant lots with half proceeds aiding the college. Plans include spring construction of a residence and boarding house. Several visitors attended the public school event featuring recitations and a debate on woman suffrage led by Misses Hainline, Ricks, and Morris.
A vivid old-time patent medicine pitch promises rapid relief for biliousness torpid liver piles and constipation. Marketing claims include benefits for men women and children with 30 doses for 25 cents and free samples at HH L Tucker's Drug Store.
Letters of administration issued to EL Phemia R Corwine on January 28 1891 by Bates County Probate Court Missouri. Creditors must exhibit claims within one year for allowance or be barred. two years from publication for total bar. Adminstratrix Corwine acts for estate proceedings.
