George A Post youngest member of Forty gynth Congress

George A Post of Susquehanna Pa is shown as the youngest member elected to the Forty eighth Congress representing the 15th district comprising Bradford Susquehanna Wayne and Wyoming counties. Born September 1 1854 in Cuba N R he moved to Oswego N Y at seven and later to Susquehanna where he rose from Erie Railway clerk to mayor at twenty two and earned admission to the bar while serving in rail and city duties. He won the Democratic nomination and a 2454 vote plurality defeating C C Jadwin Ind Rep. He also holds various honors including Knights of Honor leadership and presidential elector status in 1850. Additional achievements and editorial work with the Montrose Democrat are noted.
